Questions About Teen Therapy
Find straightforward answers to common concerns about starting counseling for your teenager.
Do parents sit in on the therapy sessions?
Typically, sessions are held one-on-one with the teenager to ensure they have a private space to speak freely. However, we often include parents in brief check-ins or dedicated family sessions when it supports the clinical goals.
What if my teenager refuses to talk to the therapist?
Resistance is completely normal for this age group. Our clinicians are highly skilled at building rapport, using engaging activities and low-pressure conversation to help hesitant teens feel comfortable opening up over time.
Are the sessions strictly confidential?
Yes. To build trust, what your teen shares remains private. We will only break confidentiality if there is an immediate safety concern, which we clearly explain to both you and your teenager during the first meeting.
